Re: Hi - new on here and hoping to share

Hi socalsan,

I have an adopted Aspie son, 10, and I really think God sent him to me so I would understand and have compassion for my husband who, I'm sure, is an undiagnosed Aspie.  He's a very successful accountant but has very limited social skills and NEEDS his rocking chair.  He also has major problems with eye contact, not with me or our son, but most everyone else.  We had a very rocky beginning because I thought he was extremely rude when I introduced him to my friends and he just couldn't make small talk.  Amazingly, he was and is extremely charming with me and still makes me laugh, even 16 years later.  I've just had to settle for little to no "couples" or "family" social life.  But he's worth it.  More than all the charming but deceptive rogues I dated before meeting him.  Unfortunately, it upsets him when I describe him as an Aspie, although I think he secretly knows he is.  And I'm highly social, so I think that's why he chose me.  When we're in social or business situations, I speak for him because he wants me to, but I'm sure I come across like a controlling person to whomever I'm speaking to . . .
