No. My boy was big. Well big for me at 8lbs 4oz and 20.5 in. He was born at 38 weeks. My daughter was also 38 weeks, 7lbs 12oz. They are both on the spectrum.

My two ASD kids were born at 31 weeks.  My daughter was 3lbs 4 oz and my son was 4lbs 3oz.  My daughter is much less affected than my son but was in the NICU for almost a month longer.  I think this theory may have some weight behind it.  When they are premature, their immune systems aren't functioning correctly yet.  This kind of goes back to the viral issue.  Plus my kids, even as premature as they were, were given their vaccinations according to their actual age and not their adjusted age.  So their first round of vaccines was two days after what should have been their due date.  I questioned the doc on this and was told it was perfectly safe.  I wish I didn't listen to her..

All of my children where born premature, but only my first has Autism.  He also has cleft lip and palate.  He was  35 weeks and 6lbs 12oz.  He stoped breathing in the birth canal and suffered Tramatic Brain Injury.

My youngest son was born ten days before due date and weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces. He was fine until an hour after he was born and his body temperature was dropping.  He is on the autism spectrum.  My oldest son was 9 pounds 13 ounces and he was really healthy.  He has ADHD.

Liv was 8lbs 8oz born on the 8th of August.   Just crazy eights.   She was born exactly the day she was predicted to be born on

This is very interesting....  My friend from college and I were both born premature/lower birth weight (that is relative for the 1960s - we are talking 4.5-5.5 lbs) - but both of us were notably much earlier than expected and NOT expected to live.  We are females and we both have characteristics of Aspergers Syndrome.  My friend also has cerebral palsey.  She works as an R.N.  My sons were both over 9.5 lbs, even though one of them was nearly 3 weeks early.  The one that ws earliest has the more pronounced autism.  (My dad was premature as well and has characteristics of autism - but in my case since there seems to be a family thing going on, you have to wonder if it is genetic or low birth wt/prematurity...)

My son, who is Autistic, was 5.3 and my daughter, who is not autistic was 4.1... Go figure!

My son Ian was premature at 34 weeks EGA. He was 5 # 4.4oz. He had to have mech vent x 24 hours and Survanta. He was hospitalized for 15 days due to feeding and breathing issues.

My daughter was born at 32 weeks weighing 2lbs. 14 oz and had a very high hemoglobin so they had to dilute her blood. She was in the NICU for 4 weeks but was never intubated. She has autism.

My son was born at 39 weeks 8# even. No complications at birth. He has autism.

My oldest was born at 40 weeks 7lbs. 11oz. No complication other then being posterior same for my daughter. He is a typical teenager.

Both my boys, who are on the spectrum, were born to full term (actually a week late for both), by natural child birth and born at a "typical' weight.

My daughter was born 6 weeks early and was 5 lbs. 9 oz. She was only a tiny bit jaundiced, and spent an hour or so under the "tanning" lamp. After that she got red and splotchy ( just like laying in the sun too long ) . She was dx'd @ 3 yrs 2 months.
