New from MI

Hi everyone. I am a mom to 2 kiddos. I live with their dad in MI. My son Cameron was dx'd last year (May) through the school at age 9 with ASD (Asperger's). We are now going outside the school as he has more issues than just the Asperger's. Like anxiety for example. Possible sleep apnea or adhd are what we are investigating right now. Also ODD. My daughter is being affected by everything. She has learned to fight back. She is having behavior problems. Seriously, under-educated people must think i have the brattiest kids and that i am a horrible mom. My daughter a a little behind in her speech. She will be 4 next month. She has a screening at the end of the week to see if she needs therapy. She will be starting K next year, so we need to make sure she gets what she needs before she starts next year. Life with these two are exhausting. My mom took my daughter for a couple days. My son was very good (except getting to sleep). My daughter was good with grandma. They just misbehave when they are around eachother. Anyways, that's me and mine!

Welcome Cinni!  Great to have you here!...You do sound very busy--life is full, huh?  My son has severe anxiety and OCD, so I understand how stressful that is for the entire family....Glad that Grandma was able to help out and give you a little break from the sibling stuff.  Put her as a regular on the calendar!

Re: New from MI

Welcome Cinni!  It's nice to meet you.  My son Chris has high functioning autism- was first diagnosed with Asperger's but his doctor changed it to straight autism so we could get services easier-- HA! (Long, long story there) I'm glad you have family that can help you out cause we really need breaks.  Don't worry about what others think-- you'll drive yourself crazy.  Some day you'll be able to look at them and say 'hey it's autism, gotta problem"  Don't worry I've never done that but boy have I wanted to!!

LOL i gave good ole mil that line already! It upsets me when people don't understand where he's coming from, especially when it's your own family! I have a couple of them that just don't get it and don't want to get it.

Re: New from MI

Hi, cinni!  My son, Daniel, is 16.  We're investigating his snoring as maybe contributing to his recent behavioral problems.  There might be some sleep apnea issues.  My mom is the member of the family who really doesn't understand Daniel, but she lives about 900 miles from us, so that isn't really an issue very often.  Of course, when it is an issue, it really hurts a lot.
