he said Silas has pretty severe SPD.....She said he has tactile defensiveness, vestibular defensiveness, gravitational insecurity, state modulation....and she said i need to get the book the out of sync child which i already have..:)....bu tits been a while since i read it so i will read it again..:) we are supposed to go back in a month or 2 until we can get some place we can go once a week for it. she also said he is lacking allot of strength in his arms, so i need to work on building up his arm strength.
she said we might notice things get a little worse when he starts school, ...but hopefully we will find ways to help him deal with certain things before that time comes..:)
so now i am trying to find somewhere in the area that does it..lol

Oh, almost forgot. You can google for more info online. This is a great resource that wasn't available to me w/our son.
OT for Sensory Integration Disorder

My son was initially dx. w/the same. We immediately got one-on-one Occupational Therapy (OT) for him. The OTs specifically did therapy that was sensory based, meaning it helped him self-regulate his central nervous system & improved his balance, walking gait, etc. Swinging in a hammock swing, swinging while sitting indian-style on a flat, wooden board that is suspended from the ceiling, searching for hidden objects in a bucket of raw rice, shaving cream foam, squishy toys, etc... the book "The Out-of-Sync Child" is the best resource you would possibly want. That's how I learned what I know & how I got the help my son needed. The OT is quite expensive & hopefully you have good insurance. I know that later on in our life we acutally changed careers to better accommodate the needs of our son w/better quality insurance. You go the right book! There's nothing better than educating yourself. Best of luck! I'll be thinking of you.

If you want to work on hand and arm strength - think of squishy but resistant. Play dough, squish balls, putty, etc. - all good things for hand strength!
