Through didactic presentations and a roundtable discussion of case studies, this educational program will provide pediatricians with a review of autism and focus on the latest trends in screening and the treatment of common comorbid conditions.

* Describe autism as it relates to epidemiology, clinical presentations, evaluation, and differential diagnosis
* Demonstrate knowledge and comfort in evaluating developmental status
* Formulate developmental/behavioral assessments to incorporate into everyday practice and recognize the link between early screening and intervention with improved outcomes
* Recognize the array of comorbidities that can present with autism and demonstrate knowledge of the pharmacologic agents most appropriate for these conditions
* Explain the challenges of treating the neurobehavioral comorbidities of autism; formulate strategies to overcome these challenges and improve the care of patients with autism
* Identify the unique pharmacologic considerations involved in treating individuals with autism
