Hi.  My name is Wendy, and I have two sons on the spectrum.  One is 10 and very HFA, and the other one is 7, and has moderate level autism spectrum disorder.  Both of the boys are really incredible, smart, funny guys, and I learn from them daily.  Sometimes I want to pull my hair out -- the days the bathroom is flooded with 4" of water that subsequently runs into the vanity out into the bedroom and into the closet...  I am sure that is a lovely picture for you all... or when 16 rolls of toilet paper are floating in the tub...or when all your shiny metal pans are hanging from the trees in the backyard - or just AWOL along with your, shoes for instance - the ones that you need to wear to work right NOW that you had locked in your car for safe keeping - LOLOLOL!!!!  I love my guys to death.  Just wish I could get into that little one's head to know WHY?  What are you thinking in there? 

I am actually really about advocacy, helping people learn about autism. getting them in touch with needed resources, teaching them about aspects such as sensory issues, diagnoses, etc, and laughing along the way.  There is a lot of laughter and joy to be had with these guys.  It is not necessarily the journey you would have chosen for yourself, but their certainly is a lot of joy and wonder in it, isnt' there?
