Hi - I am 48 and a mom of a 16 year old ADD girl. My boyfriend has a 16 year old son who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am joining the group because I am looking for some help for him. He is at his wits end trying to care for his son. He does not know where to turn for help. He is burnt out. We are in Rhode Island. The son needs to attend a special school which is very regimented. We do not know of any kind of school like that. Counselling does not seem to help much and he has run the gammet on meds. He is not being well educated in the public school and most people cannot tolerate him enough to offer to help. My boyfriend feels imprisoned. He needs a break but cannot seem to get one. Does anyone know of any contacts that I might make in the New England area? Thank You so much.
