Hi, I am new to autism and am on a journey to help my son be the best version of himself.
My name is Melissa and I am 33 and married to a wonderful and supportive man named Kevin. I have a step son Taylor who is 8 and a little boy Will who is 22 months old and has Autism. Will is in the inital stages with Babies Can't Wait. He has started Speech therapy and will start Occupational therapy soon. We have started with our DAN! Dr. Sloan and are starting GF/CF and some supplements.
Right now Will has 1-2 words depending on the day. He has some sensory issues (Tactile, Vestibular, proprioceptive, and taste). He has temper tantrams, doesn't sleep, and loves to bang his head. But he is the greatest little boy. He is great at figuring out how to turn things on and off, getting into the smallest places, and making you laugh! He has such a sweet heart!
I am trying to learn as much as possible to not lose precious time!
I try not to focus on the cause of his Autism but I like the saying.... Genetics don't cause Epidemics.

When I look back at journals of when Wynn was 3 and 4 and even 5, I was just recording one-three word phrases that seemed to come so slowly. Now, at 13, he has the most beautiful vocabulary and I ask him everyday to please be quiet for just a few minutes so I can think!...It will happen---one word at a time : )

When I talk to Julian this way, he looks and me and laughs...boy he really understands us all...be careful when you talk about him, he understands too, so don't talk about him like he isn't there...have fun with it...with the talking to him I mean...watch his eyes, and he'll talk to you through them first, just watch...

He is going to talk!! And oh the silly things to talk about, lol. Yesterday my Mom gave me a house dress and I held it up and said I don't if I can wear this I might be to fat. When I got home I held it up and Seoc said "Too fat Piggy" ROFL. He must of been paying attention when I said I was to fat but he added the piggy, lol. I about died. This time last year I couldn't have imagined how his language would develope.
